About Me

I’m Abhijeet Sharma, a Software Engineer with 3+ years of professional experience and 30+ projects across Laravel, CodeIgniter, React, Node.js, MERN and Next.js.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked on both production systems and modern enterprise applications. I’ve built and maintained APIs, business applications, database-driven systems and integrations, while also working with existing applications and contributing to their modernization toward modern JavaScript technologies.

My experience has taught me that being a good engineer is not only about knowing a framework. It’s about understanding the problem, the business logic, the data, the architecture and what can happen when the system is running in the real world.

My goal is to grow into a strong Software Engineer who can design, build and scale reliable systems — not just implement features. I’m currently going deeper into MERN, system design, distributed systems, DSA, databases, Python and AI engineering to strengthen both my problem-solving and system-level thinking.

I want to keep building real products, solving difficult engineering problems and eventually take ownership of systems from architecture to production.

I don’t want to just write code. I want to understand, design and build systems that can scale.

Engineering Challenges

Real problems, worked through

Problem

A report endpoint queried a large historical date range in one request, returning and processing far more rows than a single request should.

Root Cause

The query had no pagination or date-range limits, and the underlying table lacked an index on the columns used for filtering, forcing a large scan.

Impact

The request ran slowly and put sustained load on the database, degrading response times for other queries during that window.

Investigation

Reviewed the query plan, found the missing index and the unbounded date range, and confirmed the response payload size was much larger than the UI actually needed.

Solution

Added pagination and a required date-range filter to the endpoint, added an index on the filtered columns, and moved the heaviest aggregation to a background job with cached results.

What I Learned

Large, unbounded queries should never run synchronously in the request path. Pagination, indexing and caching are the first three things to check before reaching for anything more complex.
